Special Event!

Join us at the Bank Austria Kunstforum

Sunday 8th January 2023

10:00am to 11:30am (CET – Vienna-time)

We are delighted that our first Sunday session of 2023 will be a special, one-off event in collaboration with the Bank Austria Kunstforum in Vienna.

Join us on this Sunday morning at 10am for a unique creative writing experience inspired by the Helmut Newton Legacy exhibition, which is being shown at the Bank Austria Kunstforum until the 15th January.

The session will take place at the Gallery and the specially created creative writing prompts menu (written by published author Keith Gray), will focus on the photographs of the iconic photographer. The two hour event will include:

– 30 minute introduction to the exhibition
– 60 minute writing time
– and of course our usual 30 minutes of sharing what we’ve just written.

Your €15 ticket includes the entry fee to the Kunstforum as well as the price for our creative writing session. You can stay and enjoy the Gallery and exhibition for as long as you’d like after the session has finished. Please secure your space here on MeetUp. You will need to pay on arrival at the entrance of the Gallery.

We are really looking forward to this one-off creative writing session, combining Helmut Newton’s Legacy exhibition with our own writing. We are sure that this session will leave everyone inspired to continue writing all week. This is a one-off, unmissable opportunity and we are so excited to be working together with the wonderful Bank Austria Kunstforum.

Helpful Hints for Sessions at the Café

Z

Book to join

Please book to join us & definitely come when you booked. We reserve tables for our booked participants and print the menu of creative writing prompts. This is also especially important during our current COVID times.

Z

Arrive on time

We aim to run our session on time and allow a few minutes at the beginning to welcome participants and answer any questions.

Z

Come with an appetite

Writing in good company in some of Vienna’s best cafe’s is an enriching experience. The cafés welcome us with friendly waiters ready to take orders. Come for breakfast, or at the very least, please do order a drink. You are responsible for paying your own bill.

Z

Bring something to write with

Pen and notebook or laptop – whatever you prefer. We provide the prompts, you get to do the writing!

Z

Share your writing if you'd like to

At the end of each writing session, we invite people to briefly real aloud and share some of their writing from the session. We don’t criticise or judge because we all know it’s literally only just been written. But people enjoy hearing which prompt inspired their new writing.

Z

Feel free to hang around after the session

Although our sessions end before 11:30am, writers are more than welcome to stay on to chat, order another coffee or even continue writing. One of the most rewarding aspects of Sunday Writers’ Club are the friendships made.
